If you, like me, have a birthday this year, please consider requesting the Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy birthday song as a replacement for the traditional “Happy Birthday to You”.

Last week, while our (Desert Fires) guitarist was on vacation, the bassist and I did what any reasonable rhythm section would do. We challenged ourselves to write and record a full length album in about 2 hours and the bassist switched to guitar. It’s rough. It’s live. It’s recorded in a warehouse. It’s 11 tracks of irreverent punk rock in a blazing fast 6 minutes. Pop bands these days can barely finish one song in six minutes. We finish 11.
If you ever liked Lawnmower Deth, but wished they were more punk and less metal, or liked Crash and the Boys, but wished they were a real band, The Deadly Ant is right up your alley. Click “Buy Now” for a free (AKA: donate what you like, even if that’s nothing) download.
If you like meaningful lyrics and high production values, or just hate fun, The Deadly Ant is not for you.
Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra: “Do It with a Rockstar” (for YouTube) (by amandapalmer)
I don’t listen to Amanda Palmer very often, but I may not listen to anything other than this song for the next week or so.
Change your life for the better. Put it on repeat.

PBR’S Megacity Music Marathon has an amazing lineup, but it’s not the only festival going on tomorrow.
Check out Your guide to Saturday’s Columbus music apocalypse at Alive or Spoonfeed Columbus’ weekend guide for an overwhelming look at this weekend’s alternatives.

Rain or Shine, even if it ruins your shoes, the Nelsonville Music Festival is the best, most underrated, music festival in America. This weekend, it returns with the “classic” Guided by Voices lineup. That’s all you need to know, because you’ve already bought your tickets, but there are a ton of other awesome Ohio acts we’ve talked about on Fuck Yeah Ohio before, like Jessica Lea Mayfield and R. Ring.
Oh yeah, a bunch of big non-Ohio acts, like Andrew Bird, Iron and Wine, M. Ward, and Mucca Pazza are playing too, if you’re into that kind of thing, and by “that kind of thing” I mean you’re into having insane amounts of fun listening to amazing bands regardless of where they’re from.
Seriously, just look at this amazing lineup and try to stay home this weekend.
If you want to stay a little closer to Columbus, Rock on the Range is this weekend too, but they don’t have nearly as many Ohio bands playing.
The only thing better than a Moogerfooger is 18 Moogerfoogers.
This is way more enjoyable than it has any right to be.
“You’ve got to have a hook in the intro, a hook in the pre-chorus, a hook in the chorus, and a hook in the bridge.”
Our practice space has been blessed by St. Fonzie.
I have to thank Alec Empire for mentioning this group “Retox” in a vlog, I really love them. They are heavy and aggressive…
