An Open Letter to the CBS Series Big Bang Theory

Drop the laugh track.

Seriously. You’re obviously nowhere near sophisticated enough to use this tool. Let it go. Putting the thing on a timer isn’t the same as putting it after every joke, regardless of it’s actual humorous content.

This is not a funny post, but if it had been written by the jokers behind Big Bang Theory, it would’ve been interrupted by at least 5 ill-timed laugh track ha ha has. It’s just sad.

Dude. You’re so right. I watched the first episode of the show and was so completely distracted by the laugh track that I never watched another episode. I have no idea if it was even any good or not.

I can’t even remember what happened in the episode I saw. I just remember counting to myself “1… 2… LAUGH TRACK! 1… 2… LAUGH TRACK!” I hope the writers are sufficiently embarrassed and this is forced upon them by some clueless suit, because if it’s part of the creative process, they need to retire.

It seemed, as well, like the punchlines were delivered with a slight variation on what I call the Soap Opera Pause so that there’d be time for us to all enjoy the laugh track punctuating the dialog. Very awkward.

The Soap Opera Pause is that interminable pause in dialog/action right before a commercial break. As I haven’t laid eyes on a daytime soap in years and years, I can only assume they still do it.

Just came upon this show. It’s quite good but I can’t watch because the laugh track is so bad. Just googled it to see if others felt the same way and clearly they do. This is insane.
